Now the Lord is the Spirit
and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is freedom.

The Land – new film on its way

I started shooting for my up-coming film,The Land, already in 1998 and I knew from the beginning that the topic being hot and controversial I had to make the film a personal feature of what I witness in the Holy Land: the drama and the beauty of this very special place on earth which is at the same time a mirror of the Promised Land in our hearts.

The Holy Land, the apple of His eye, has been the focus on my own journey through life from my childhood where I was told stories from the Bible. I myself started teaching other children at the age of 8 so it is really in my blood. It is a core belief of my understanding of life – both on the physical and the spiritual levels.

Today this land is split between Israel and the socalled territories (Judea and Samaria aka the Westbank and Gaza). In the film we will follow a Christian family in Betlehem whose members struggle to keep their land at the same time as they have taken a firm stand to the conflict: We love because He first loved us. This stand was the reason why I became interested in their struggle while at the same time honouring my deep love for Israel.

How does their struggle manifest? What is their situation as Christian “Palestinians” in the midst of Muslim land? And what are their hopes for the future? Their story has inspired me to make interpretations of the conflict from a totally other perspective than the one you are confronted with in the medias. You will of course receive an introduction to the political events and the foundation of the modern state of Israel that have led to the present situation. But I am not particularly concerned with the conflict as such but will rather explore the spiritual intentions behind it – mirrored in the battle between benevolent and dark forces that keep on growing in the world today.

Any action you take is rooted in your belief system. That’s why it is so important to rid yourself of false concepts and keep on expanding your consciousness all during your life. There is no need to talk about good and bad people, whereas it’s certainly paramount to distinguish between what is blissful and what is evil: What makes you blossom and what makes you shrink. Any mindset that imprisons and suppresses your free spirit while heralding its own narrow conception of life comes from darkness. That also includes political correctness that is shallow and false in its self-conscious aspirations towards self-glorification. The big question is: What is true – and what is false. When CNN speaks about Palestine when talking about the time of King Herod something is truly rotten…

A different approach to life is necessary, an approach founded in love combined with wisdom, understanding and knowledge, spiritual gifts available for us all and that can lead to options paving the way for a new world. Peace and dialogue can only come about if you honour Life in all its beauty – for everyone.

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep,
and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good,
and he separated the light from the darkness.
