Islam and the West Study group for you who have a relationship with Christ
We in the West are so used to discuss everything according to reason and our pragmatic attitude to life. That’s why we often misunderstand Islam or ignore the undertones. NB Only for private groups.
- The beginning of Islam
- A spiritual battle
- The caliphate
- End-time prophesies
- Who are we? The self-image of the West

We in the West use reason when we discuss and we tend to have a pragmatic / realistic approach to life. As one of my students once said: We have a code that says we must try to reach consensus and obtain win-win situations. Islam, on the other hand, has quite different parameters for how a good believer behaves and what his goal is. That is why we often misunderstand Islam and do not hear many of the undertones that however sound quite clear these years.
What are the spiritual motives behind what we are experiencing today? Why does Islam pay homage to death? And why are we in the West so passive/reluctant to take action? You will be introduced to the main actors in Islam and hear about issues such as the origins and (eschatological) goals of Islam, the relationship with Jews and Christians, society and the individual…. . What happens, these days in Turkey? in Iran? in Saudi Arabia? How can we interpret modern politics according to scripture? You will hear stories from my own travelling to the Muslim world, incl. my long stays in Israel / the West Bank / Gaza.
I look forward to discussing this highly current topic with you.
